Mr Lee said: "In Singapore, I'm worried about what the people think of me. As long as the people understand that what I am doing is in their best interests and there is no alternative that is better than what, not just me but my successors, are offering, we are not doing too badly. "The final test is not whether you are rated by Amnesty International or Human Rights International, but the satisfaction of the people you are governing towards you and what you have delivered." -

News update!

2% GST hike may come in one-off adjustment: PM Lee

What the heck? How cruel IS THAT ? from 3, to 5 to 7! When will it stop?
What are they going to do with our hard-earned money? So many doubts, so little answers.

Who cares about GST hikes.
One alarming news that caught my attention. It was about death penalty of some nigerian smuggling drugs.
nothing big wad. just some losers that couldnt hide them well enough. Maybe yes, maybe no.
I try to summarise wad happened and let u decide for urself.

Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi. Caught with drugs at Changi Airport on 28 November 2004. Tried and sentenced to death on 22 December 2005. Appeal dismissed on 16 March 2006.

Has now appealed to the President for clemency.

The President does not decide such matters himself but acts on the advice of the cabinet. Since taking office, President S R Nathan has never granted clemency to anyone.

aiyah whatever, lazy to summarise.

http://yawningbread.org/arch_2006/yax-645.htm

Counsel also emphasised that although the first accused had about 20 minutes from the time he was told that the police were coming to interview him to the time they came, and he had the opportunity to dispose of the capsules, he did not do it, nor did he make any serious attempt at concealing them.

If i am not wrong, this person will be dead tomorrow. However, he had appealed for clemency, he might be
Presumed innocent until proven guilty, on the other hand, if he is Presumed guilty until shown innocent, critics will not stop surfacing. Either ways, it is hard for the judge to decide.

But his statements somehow, proved that he was just a simple minded man aged21, trying to make a living out of soccer, trying to find someone, somewhere, who will recognise his talents. But due to lack of money, he could not do so. So, any desperate person in such circumstances will accept any offer to earn money,
In his case, he merely fell into a trap. in other words, he is fucking innnocent. Furthermore, he consistently told the judge that the pills were herbs, which could also mean that ... he was brainwashed. Afterall, he dropped out of school at 14!! What could he know?
So i assumed, the judge, ignoring external factors, charged him guilty because he was carrying drugs.theoretically, There is nothing wrong. But, what if, he's totally ignorant.
iT'S FUCKING NOT A DETENTION WE ARE TALKING ABOUT.
IT'S A DEATH PENALTY!!

WTF is this? Or is it because the accused is black?

"
Throughout the investigations, Tochi had maintained that he thought the capsules contained herbs, and had even swallowed one capsule which contained a potentially lethal quantity of diamorphine."

Lethal LEH. He would not do this just to BLUFF them, cos Singaporeans are clever.
therefore, i infer that he is purely ignorant. He fucking got cheated, he IS A VICTIM. I saw many writing up to defend
Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi.

Let me quote you, what a fellow blogger said.

"
Tochi, I am so sorry. Tochi’s mum and dad, I am so very sorry too. Tochi does not deserve to die. My country chose to kill him even though there were doubts on his case. I’m sorry that there is nothing I can do. I am just a small fry in this country whose voice will probably not be heard. Nonetheless, I still want to say sorry. It’s the least I can do."

Yes,
there is free speech, but are the views/opinions heard/discussed thoroughly?

I went to fill in a petition to stop this inhumane death penalty.

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO KILL IF FOUND GUILTY, AFTER ALL, HE'S ALREADY BEHIND BARS. WHAT MORE HARM CAN HE CAUSE, WHY NOT TAKE YOUR TIME TO FIND MORE LEADS TO PROVE HIS CRIME?
-grant.
by doing this,

I am strictly opposed to a mandatory death penalty and call on the Singaporean responsibles to grant clemency to Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi and Okele Nelson Malachy and to change their sentences to prison terms. Further I call on the responsibles to respect international human rights and to issue a moratorium on death penalty.

I hope i can save an innocent. What about you?

Against Tochi the trial judge Mr.Kan Ting Chiu made the following finding at paragraph 42 of his judgment [2005] SGHC 233:

"There was no direct evidence that he knew the capsules contained diamorphine. There was nothing to suggest that Smith had told him they contained diamorhine, or that he had found that out of his own."

At this point of time, Singapore is one step closer to an inhumane society, becoming infamous/notorious. to think we can be proud of a "crime-free" country. Or is it that peace does not exist.
How much innocent blood must be shed to deter TRUE law-breakers?
What we caught, are just PAWNS, pathetic pawns of the masterminds. PAWNS

What have we achieved?

SAying so much? i am a mere 17 year old, waiting to be 18 . My views will not even be taken into consideration. so what's the point?
