a)Education alone is a major key event in every Singaporean's life. If i do well for all my examinations, i will have a chance to prolong my school education my 2 years by advancing to a JC, which i did. Has the past years been worthwhile? Meaningful?
Through education, I unknowingly discovered my own strengths and weaknesses and the social roles each one of us plays. Tolerance, teamwork, friendship, even prejudice, selfishness and enmity were not in the school syllabus. But we experienced those along with education. Without education and schooling, I doubt very much whether i can be a successful social animal, i would be helpless and no friends will be around in times of need.Surprisingly, nobody knew education would mould one's character and attitude until they were 'educated'. Doing well in studies in this competitive country was top priority but I also learnt not to underestimate others, a skinny runt at the back of the classroom who is ostracized is usually one that would beat the others with straight As at the end of the day. In the process of receiving compulsory education, I discovered teachers are also human. They err and sometimes are often not the best of my role models. But that does not mean I should not respect them, Education has taught me to reason and discriminate accordingly.
I may not be the best student in school but the experience in school is priceless and what i am today is the direct result of my education. It is not the results I am referring to but the very fact that i can express my honest views on paper as i am doing now should vouch for the worth of my education, a worthwhile and meaningful journey in my life.

oustanding, now i am another phase of my life, fretting about the limited choices i have. People who have 4 Aces must be having a headache, so much to choose from and so little time to do so.
My bunk mates, one is the top student of nyjc, one RJC had 5As, most people are from VJC. Despite the massive improvement, i am not really that good when compared with all the JC students, i am not globally competitive yet and i have to admit and face reality.

It's been 7 weeks in the army, living with guys have been an enriching experience, it's the way to train boys to men,
They are so much more male sexual psychopaths in the city partly due to the fact that GUYS spend 2 years living with guys. The lack of the company of the opposite sex makes us go crazy and disorientated. We took them for granted in the past because they were everywhere, now that we are locked up in pulau tekong, life has never been the same again.

With a blink of an eye, i am soon reaching the end of my basic training, 2 more weeks and i will be posted out of Tekong , training had been progressive, punishments too, and i was lucky to be in a welfare company. We drink a lot, and we sweat a lot, we coughed a lot due to some virus in the water and we had fun. I met guys of charisma, i met guys of supreme irritating capabilities, i met guys who likes to touch as a form of communication and brotherhood, i met guys who are dominating, i met guys who are superficial, i met guys who suck up to the commanders, i met no one of my caliber, willing to defy and make a difference, there are people who memorizes lectures in the army, i find Recuits acting like they are the officers. i met many people in the army, and i am trained to live with them, I smile and i smile, just to serve my time.

The public transport is asking for more profit AGAIN, the bus and MRT fares are going to increase, their excuse would be due to the rise in price of diesel, thus they need more money . However, their profit level also increases more than proportional, forming inelasticity of demand and supply.

Being a monopolistic firm, the proposals they give to the higher power would be revised thoroughly, I hope. When MRT was still under nationalisation(under control of govt), service standards were pathetic, there were no frequent checks to deter terrorists, not many stations emphasized the importance of safety, that explains the new alternative to suicide - JUMPING THE TRACKS.

Now, SMRT, SBS are privatised, oh boy arent they happy to dominate the market? Asking for price hikes biannually, clever for the govt, they now intervene to deter the abuse of the transport of public transport. The government now expects higher service standards, if not strictly adhered to, they will be fined.

MEAL - now for evidences.

The SMRT has announced a profit after tax of $135.8m for financial year 2007, an increase of 31% from the previous year. (Link)

I am glad to see that inequity in Singapore is trying its best not to worsen as it already is presently( one of the worst in Singapore), I certainly expect they make full use of the money to increase
expenditure of skills upgrade of workers and their productivity,

The solution lies in fostering social norms that frown on racial prejudices, says George Yeo

REMOVING race from the Singapore identity card (IC) will not see the end of racial stereotypes, said Foreign Minister George Yeo yesterday.

The answer lies in creating social norms that frown on racial prejudices, he told around 200 young Singaporeans at a dialogue.

But at the same time, he acknowledged that as human beings, having prejudices was part of life.

That is when having a sense of humour helps, he said. 'So I listen to (Indian comedian) Kumar cracking jokes about Indians, it gets the whole audience laughing because it relaxes the atmosphere.'

Mr Yeo was responding to a participant who had suggested that race be removed from ICs to downplay racial stereotypes.

Race-related issues and their impact on community ties dominated the two-hour dialogue organised by the Young Sikh Association.

To demonstrate the continual risk of racial tensions, Mr Yeo recounted a recent incident in Aljunied GRC, where he is an MP.

A Muslim girl was accidentally scalded by a Chinese bak kut teh (pork ribs soup) seller. The situation deteriorated when the stall holder was hurt in a scuffle with the girl's angry mother. Grassroots leaders intervened and, with gifts and comforting words, appeased both parties.

The incident, Mr Yeo said, showed that prejudices can feed on one another. 'Suddenly, all the established thinking we're used to evaporates,' he said. 'You can never be sure.'

Income disparities among different races worry junior college teacher Randy Gill, who felt it needed to be monitored closely.

Mr Yeo said it was inevitable because some communities respond more effectively to global opportunities. However, he urged those who have found success to help the less privileged. 'The more we surge ahead, the more we must help those left behind,' he said.

Another participant observed that the issue of international terrorism seems to boil down to one group: the Muslim community.

Agreeing, Mr Yeo said: 'In Chechnya, Palestine, Iraq, where Muslims may have a legitimate right to feel grief...all these things are conflated together so that all the unhappiness is mixed, and becomes a justification for doing bad things to innocent people.

'This is going to be a long drama, a problem specific to the Muslim community today.'

But terrorism can afflict other groups too, Mr Yeo said, recalling Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers trying to recruit Singaporean Tamils in their fight for an independent state.

He reminded his audience to stay clear of political happenings in other countries as they seek out their roots.

'It is difficult, but we must have the conscious discipline to separate the two (politics and religion),' he said.

Yesterday I had steamboat with a few bpians. went to lan later on.
We played lan from 12am to 5am at bukit timah . i had fun, of course i do,despite earlier protests, i do not know why i find myself in a lan shop.

From this period of 12-5, I saw many different types of people, most were of the lower grade quality. I was surprised to see the lan shop full even in the midnight. People were doing many things.
They played many games, maplestory, audition, dota, counterstrike, command and conquer, Battlefield, and now, there is a new online game.

i found out many things for the whole of this science day event which had taken place in PIONEER JC today .
I shall skip the bad parts about SDP student "LEADERS", favoritism.
Well,
but it was nice of mr jeremy loh to invite me to science day to fill in c.i.p hours, greatly appreciated.
Primary school kids these days, they know alot, inquisitive, smart and lively. There was one boy who brought an encyclopedia along, his friends said he is a SCIENCE pro, brings his encycopedia everywhere. he's cute, the chubby way.
He reminds me of myself, i have this 'mini encyclopedia' every science lesson too. I remembered once, i read about penicillin, and showed it to the teacher, mr bryan ong, who in turn showed the whole class of my enthusiastic self. PRIMARY SCHOOL WAS MY PEAK EVER SINCE(if u get it)
And, oh, while demonstrating expts for those kiddos, i did sth wrong and said WHAT THE Fff..
then one girl said ,"OH! YOU SAID WHAT THE FUCK! WHAT THE FUCK!"pronouncing every word with CARE and sharpness.

There is a difference in what moulds you -your secondary school. Indeed, as you live, you carry the burden of maintaing or improving your school's reputation, I've come across friends from various schools.

ACS people just give you this fixed impression of wealth and raging boy-boy hormones. They think they own the world. Wait till they crawl out of their cot and wake up their ideas.
Nope, they did not cross my path, i am merely, commenting.

Infamous schools do potray a bad image for the students, their actions are never too bad as long as they have their uniform on. E.g,

what's wrong with a Teck Whye Secondary student with his uniform tucked out with a cigarette on their ears? Contrast the same scenario with a BPGHS student(bukit panjang govt high). That action would be utterly undesirable.

the reason being,

As my school (BPGHS) is of a higher standard than BVSS, the papers are naturally harder, so it's alright to fail.
BVSS, Exams should be relatively easier and is of no kick compared to my papers.
Thus, no room for failures.

I was guilty. She did better than me, numeriacally, ceteris paribus, not considering the quality on the paper we sat for.

We got to do the icon of the cradle. I am not a leader, I wish I could take over everything, PROVING that SDP is shit. Their organising is crap, Science Day is an important event as it affects the reputation of PioneerJC, they only start planning for important things like icons, mascots, and student helpers, maybe they already planned other stuff ahead , like the Science Trail and Science booths, but I doubt what SDP could deliver, I do not think i am generalising, since this event is organised by SDP students, and anyone who do not prove oneself's worth, reflects DIRECTLY on SDP's repute/competence as an event organiser.

On the other hand, I do not doubt their value, they influence the growth of our college, their survival and their performance in school is vital. I was in the LT, my eyes scanned the people that will be included, I rolled my eyes,at how nerdy our friends there were.
How cute and having this simple minded face drawn on them.
Look closely, you will see a similarity in their physical appearance, it's quite entertaining, this, is the difference between the folks and the elites, a pity they are not good leaders, compared to our counterparts from other schoools.

I feel my blurred vision clearing, i felt around for my spectacles, put it on and found myself back to reality, I am in my bed, how i wished I was still dreaming where my fantasy world revolves around my LIKES and wildest desire,
Reality is like the desire to travel around the world where you are hopeful your trip would be great, only to find disappointment when you reach your destination.

Indeed, when i woke up, all i have is disappointment, nothing came true, just when you thought dreams can be signs to guide you along your adventure of 17 going 18, where one's true love is ahead of you, yet so far, unreachable, unimaginable. I could not get close.

Naturally, distrust surfaced between my peers, uncertain if my burning desire is only but a facade, perturbed at the sandcastles i build in the air. My emotions ran wild, I was disturbed, if I was a genuine swain at heart, where my emotions are the purest.

I got back my essay, I failed again, there was a "SEE ME" yet again for the umpteen time. I cannot see the problem here, my ideas flowed pretty smoothly that day i did the test. Is it the style i write? that it is different from the ordinary?
I consoled myself that I was a little different in writing then my fellow counterparts who did essay writing too, that my style is suited for another genre of writing? Like that of a journalist, who analyse and comment . Deceit floods me when it comes to GP. Every lesson, I attend the lessons with deflating enthusiasm. I shrug. It's evident that my language is above the average of my cohord.

I reviewed my case repeatedly in vain, I am despondent, uncertain of my capability to produce results to prove Mrs Leong wrong.

Balancing these dilemmas, both of which concerns my future, my satisfaction in the long run, I am unable to neglect any.
My confidence is on a low one right now, any form of morale boost will undoubtedly make me smile.

Or maybe cause she's cheering in mandarin, one is unable to decipher how her chinese could be so fluent and eastern-inclined. My life has come to a standstill, I do not see a need to work hard for my future, I neglected my homework. I hate JC life, I have been dwelling on this for more than a year.
After my spa skill As, for both physics and chemistry, i reckon time will fast forward.
I am looking forward to this and Get this shit out of my life.
Enjoy what you do, i often tell others. But when it comes to oneself, you say STFU to that person.
I have a respectable GP teacher, she is a critic of modern lifestyle, and an invaluable life trainer. The comments i see on my comprehensions and compositions, i look at them, and i know, I am practically hopeless in my English.

1. Singapore give them scholarship so they don’t need to worry about money. They don’t need to worry that PTPTN will reject his loan.

3. Although Singapore has only 2 universities, both of them are far better than ANY one in Malaysia. SINGAPORE : The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has mapped out a plan to drastically cut Singapore's dependence on sand and granite.

About 95 percent of building projects in Singapore are concrete-based and highly dependent on sand.

Such drywalls are currently installed in many private residential projects, to replace conventional brick walls that separate rooms in apartments.

E.gs of such structures in replacement is the National library and part of Esplanade.
I personally feel such buildings are able to express style and infrastructure of the designers.

But my current concern is whether foreign workers are able to adapt to the change in material for buiildings. Previously, it's pure concrete, now it's drywalls.
I suspect structural unemployment will be on the rise, workers might be sent back to bangladesh as they will not be needed for their knowledge on building with concrete. Sadly, others from other countries will come to Singapore to overthrow/subvert current workers .

Authorities are also working with the National University of Singapore to process "spent copper slag", a by-product of sand blasting, to partially replace natural sand.

Hardware aside, the BCA has trained 150 practitioners on advance steel design and construction since February this year, and more courses will be introduced.

It will work with the Singapore Structural Steel Society on more training programmes, as well as local universities to beef up the curriculum on structural steel design.

Look at it on the brighter side without sand, NUS will have something to research about, new progress will be made, new developments, Singapore's aggregate supply curve will be on the extensive, getting longer and increase Singapore's potential capacity for mroe resources.

Imagine your brother conducting a massacre in his school campus. Then he killed himself.
Never would I have thought that Asians are capable of such inhumane acts, regardless of one's sanity.
Such acts would normally be blatantly done by the white western humans. But since it happened in US, then some foul play might have occurred. Maybe peer pressure by the white humans forced the innocent looking South Korean student to commit such sad killings. From the reports i have seen, the family of the culprit is more apologetic to the deceased, than crying for their dead child. Even though the child is a big sinner, they should feel more remorse in the death of their child more than anything else. Now it seems that the family is responsible for the deaths of 32 other members of the campus.

But NO!
I certainly do not think he did those killings out of insanity. He had to be a victim,he had to have suffered some sort of humiliation or underwent bullying from his peers. When I first looked at his photo on the news, I laughed at his looks, my peers joined me , "how can someone looking so nerdy kill 32 people?"
Something is definitely amiss. Look at the past events, such occurrences actually happened not once before, but twice or even thrice!

I chanced upon a happy place, filled with hope, but found out sadness is in the air.
Grief overflowing me.

Zelda looked so cheerful this afternoon. But least of what i expected, she is having a hard time struggling to breathe right now, i believe.
With her As coming up, her family needs her support right now. I put myself in her shoes. I think, I think, I will not be able to take it.
She is a strong girl. Definitely, I feel for her, however, the emotions flowing through me can never match hers.
I do not know how she is living this through, but, my gut feeling tells me that,the gloomy days for her is this period. However, externally, she is all smiles, full of sweetness, and full of solace.
I hope this keeps it up, and she will not struggle at this period of time. Being only an acquaintance, admiration and respect overwhelm me.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam is Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance in the Singapore Cabinet.

Tharman spent much of his earlier, professional career at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Singapore’s central bank and financial regulator, where he was the Managing Director before he entered politics in 2001. He took office as Acting Minister for Education in Aug 2003, and subsequently as Minister for Education in Aug 2004. He was appointed Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance in May 2006. Tharman is also Co-Chairman of the Singapore-Liaoning Economic and Trade Council (SLETC), which was established in 2003 to advance stronger links between Singapore and Liaoning Province, China. He is Chairman of the Ong Teng Cheong Institute of Labour Studies, and serves as a Life Trustee of the Singapore Indian Development Association.

Tharman obtained undergraduate and masters degrees in Economics from the London School of Economics and Cambridge University. He later obtained a masters degree in Public Administration at Harvard University, where he received the Littauer Fellow award. He was awarded the Singapore Public Administration Gold Medal in 1999.

He is married to Jane Yumiko Ittogi, a lawyer. They have four children, of school-going age.

Anyway , my point is, his testimonial, so short yet full of content, He does not have to enlarge his font just to fill the page. Do people like them deserve a pay rise?
If all testimonials are somewhat similar, I believe, they have more than what it takes to receive a 1.2 million per year pay.I'm not exactly jealous. But think about his achievements, is it what you desire?

I went home with a heavy heart, mind is a state of confusion, I've been troubled since Common Test and, there, my mind is made up. There is a few obstacles, i just applied for NO deferment, i have to speak to tham and do some procedures, and MY PARENTS, they are more than obstacles, they are a burden.

What could be worse than a UUUUE, i have thought about it, and the most i can lose, is youth, and my peers. I ran, and I hid. i tried to escape. I tried to avoid. But reality gave be a kaboom.
Indeed, i have a low self esteem. I do not have the confidence to make decisions.

And Failure has been haunting me since sec sch. In '07, the lousiest express class in bpghs, to pathetic prelims of 39 points, and a disastrous 16 points .

i have set a target, when i start anew. I WILL BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR MEDICINE , AND I SHALL REJECT IT WHEN THEY OFFER ME A CHANCE.say no to medicine.
i dun think i have much of a choice.

There is no such thing as WSM(WORLD SALARY MANAGEMENT organisation) or something.

I had, however, thought that this pay rise is somehow linked to corruption, like how Shin Corp is obtained. But i shall not emphasize on my thoughts about it,
Arguably, the ministers claim that they are using private sectors' salary as a benchmark, to keep up with the competitiveness, fine fair enough.

I will be waiting for private firms to sabotage the attractiveness/appeal of ministerial positions by raising the pay 3 fold, then this is when , controversy will arise. Will the givt raise their pay again? after all, it benefits themselves, why not!? smart.

JIAYOU and such terms are getting so cliche that it has no effect to save u from depression due to sucky results. Don't u think so too?

It was intended to shock the audience, it succeeded, it is such a success that a flood of complaints has gushed through, until they had to reschedule the timing of the advertisement- till after 8pm where there are less children will be watching the TV.

A housewife commented about how much it turns her whole family off, and it even gave her daughter nightmares!

However, the toll free stop smoking hotline has increased substantially- five fold after the ad has been released. There are many that praised the ad and said it is positive but neverttheless, such ads are still situated away from schools and childcare centres to reduce potential trauma hazards.

Actually i was quite disgusted at the ugly lady with "diseased tongue, decaying teeth and chapped lips riddled with sores" as well. I was thinking, smokers are addicted to smoking, they know the hazards, the harm but they just cant stop due to addiction, i think, this ads focuses more on DETERRING potential smoking losers-to-be than aiding in the eradication of this addiction, but well, the callers that are calling to ask about smoking and how to quit smoking has increased, so i guess it's a positive externality after all.

fuck, shit results!
i thought i would get a B for chemistry. i had so much confidence in it, i spent my one week holidays trying for chemistry. I let down mdm goh and more imptly, myself. I though i couldnt achieve much in life after chem lesson or maybe i din mug enough , or i am like those loser muggers out there that cant score -->jy maybe?

he's a joke. He cant get into the top 3 although the whole class knows he tries, he completes his tutorials etc.

Who are PRS then? Are they foreigners? of are they locals?

PRs are people that can come and go whenever they want, but many choose to leave after completing quality education in singapore, without doing the NS that they are obligated to do, should they stay.
And they leave when they are better opporutunities around.

SO, i conclude that PRs are , ARE ARE foreigners.
SO, if u do ur maths, 70% of the jobs created go to foreigners( plus PRs)

I see a problem, then our singaporeans have been struggling to find a job and are most probably unable to do so, because foreigners are taking our place. In the long run, you will see 80%,90% and still rising , the percentage of foreigners that would be employed by local firms.

1.Is it of singapore's rising labour costs so much so that firms must out source to cheaper workers elsewhere?
2.Or is it of Singaporeans' obsolete skills?

But we are no where behind foreigners in terms of skills!

3. Or is it their looks? foreigners look better? so they have a higher chance of getting employed.

Our home is not cool enough, it is neatly packed with furniture,it is very nice and clean, but it lacked the something that makes guests go 'WOW'.

An expert said, you need to loosen up, you always follow order , you should let freedom take over your child, be more liberal and let them do whatever they want, allow them to unveil their emotions, genuine emotions.

The problem with you is that you control what they do, what they feel like studying, when they can play and how they feel.

My snail in my lovely aquarium , thus far has eaten 3 of my guppies, all female, i realised its eating the eggs in the womb.
but what baffles me is HOW THE SNAIL CATCHES THE FEMALE GUPPY.
lstly the snail moves so slowly, and is as slow as.. a snail!

2ndly,the guppies cannot respond ? don't they know they are being eaten slowly by a snail? it can easily outrun the snail la!.

I come back to this topic because fellow singaporeans,along with me cannot believe this fact that KL can be the top 5.
let's see wad they say:

Yahman... I wonder how much it cost them to buy a third place? As far as I know, KLIA is one of the worst airport in the world, so big that when you need to get to your flight, you have walk for 30 mins and above... shuttle service is a joke, comes only maybe once every 45mins even though the schedule says 15 mins.. I bet the driver went to eat snake..

Luggage always lost or missplaced and flights will be delayed. Best of all, to get to the airport, you have to start driving at least 4 hours earlier if not sure jam until you are late for your flight... kns.. this type of airport can be third??

I say, its a good kick to the pedestal to drop down and get real again.
Being at the top for too long breeds COMPLACENCY.
